Guggenheim’s 50th Anniversary

Mark your calendar: October 21, 2009. The Guggenheim Museum is opening its doors with free admission to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the exact day the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building opened to the public. An extensive Kandinsky exhibit is on display through January 13, 2010 (click on the link and watch the video — it’s wonderful). The best part? Well, my favorite part. At dusk on the 21st, the Empire State Building will be lit up in red in honor of the museum’s anniversary. Nicely done, NY.
